Success is defined as “The accomplishment of an aim or purpose.” Oftentimes we equate success to notoriety, fame and/or money. However, success is merely “Accomplishing that which you’ve set out to do”
For Pamala Hutcherson, this theme resonates from a life full of overcoming obstacles, be it working through her parents divorce when she was 14 years old, watching her mother and father rebuild separate yet committed lifestyles in the upbringing of Pam and her 3 siblings, being told she may not graduate with her senior class due to the lack of fulfilling her academic requirements to having herself failed at marriage and trusting God by seeing the good in it ALL.
Not much of one to think twice or muddle over things, as she is the second born of 4 children, has always known exactly what she wanted and set out to accomplish it. The first seven years it was only she and her sister, oldest by only 15 months, Knitasha. Her younger sister, Antonea and younger brother Anthony came 8 years later and she found herself pushing her way out of the middle and setting a path for herself. I love my sisters and brother. They are the best. We laugh, we joke, we tease, and we think we have the craziest family ever.
She’s always been the risk-taker and the one to go against the grain in sorts. A leader by nature, she’s one to hear Gods voice and move full speed ahead while paying attention to any warning signs or hazards on the path. So in 2012, when God gave her the mandate to complete the book she had started a few years prior as well as the vision to brand the “Strategies to Success – Positioned To Prosper” (S2S/P2P) theme and start a national tour, she didn’t think twice. She hit the ground running, first hosting the conference earlier this year in her hometown, Chicago, IL and most recently in Birmingham with a final stop in Charlotte, North Carolina later this year.
I sat down; I said “Okay God” if this is what you want I’ll do it. I’ll take my life, my cuts, my bruises and I’ll lay them on display for the world and through my transparency God would use me to heal others. As long as I’m in a serving capacity, I’m fulfilled. I love service – I am service. I’m not sure what I would do if I couldn’t serve. Jesus tells us in Matthew: Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ (25:40).
The S2S conference theme is centered around prospering in all areas of our lives. I believe that we can find balance. I believe that its possible, but we have to be willing to go the extra mile, surrender that which we don’t need and stay in God. I’m not perfect by a long shot, I’ve had issues with my self-image, I had to deal with me. I had to come to a place of wholeness, figure out who I was in God, that He loved me so, even though I haven’t been so lovable and desired the best for me. As I went through my process, I was able to take the fundamental principles of the bible and apply them to my life. When I began to apply them to my life, I began to yield fruit and from that yielding of fruit I’ve been able to help others find their true identity, love themselves and live a life of fullness.
As God began to give her to specifics for the Birmingham, AL conference, she knew that she needed to have Shirley Murdock on board. I’ve always been a Shirley Murdock fan. I would listen to her songs in the late 80’s, just a teenager myself but I knew this woman had a voice and she had a story. Ms. Murdock was a part of a TeleConference that I conducted in 2012 called “The 30 Day Challenge To Change”. She blessed me with her testimony. Shirley said she always knew who she was, she grew up with a firm foundation and when offered to sing secular music with Roger and Zapp, she never swayed in her faith. Ms. Murdock taught me a great deal on that call. There was still a place left open for healing and Ms. Murdock allowed me to close that door by telling her story and never swaying from her faith. So when I put together the lineup for the S2S Bham conference, I reached out to Shirley and made arrangements to have her at the conference. She was just as humble, anointed and confident at the conference as she was when we first met while arranging the teleconference in 2012. She is a great woman of wisdom and knowledge and it comes across in everything she does. I’m grateful to call her friend.
I’m looking forward to the conference later this year in Charlotte and we’re working on speakers and panelists for the 2014 conference. I’m just excited as well as humbled that God would use me to change the lives of others.
